Students, we are nearing the end of the academic year and we would like to give you one last project to reflect on your year and plan for future.

Please use the code DAXYR at join.nearpod.com or in the nearpod app. 

You will asked to do series of activities: most very short, but one where you need to research and write a short paper. So, please pace yourself throughout the week. Please read the directions given in the nearpod carefully and produce a quality product. This project is due next Tuesday, May 19th.

Wednesday, May 6th, Digital Learning Day 31

Math / AC Math:  

Deductive reasoning is a type of logic reasoning which is needed for problem solving. You will use this today to solve problems about geometry. This type of reasoning is sometimes called as top-down thinking or moving from general to specific. Deductive reasoning relies on given true statements (also called premises). Based on these true statements, you can arrive at your conclusion or solutions.  

Fun fact: Sherlock Holmes, the detective character from books and movies, is a great example of someone who uses deductive reasoning all the time. He draws conclusions by observing the situation, and he uses these observations to find the criminal and solve the crime.  

Please use the following link to solve 3 geometry problems using deductive reasoning. Think of it as riddles. Use scratch paper to work them out and involve your siblings or parents once you have solved them (or to help you solve).  Use your Office 365 (or Microsoft) login.

Tuesday, May 5th, Digital Learning Day 30

Math: Complete the project and share your presentation (PowerPoint or Sway) with me on Office 365. It is due today for both Math and AC Math students. Please read the directions given carefully and don’t forget to give your presentation a name. MATH RESEARCH AND DATA COLLECTION 

Reading: Today you will be reviewing the different parts of speech. Please go to www.flocabulary.com. In the top right corner, click on ‘join a class.’ The class code is K4ZRHQ. It will ask you to create an account, so please login with your Office365 account (school email and your school password). Once you are logged in, on the right side of the screen you will see your assignment titled ‘Parts of Speech.’ Please watch the video and complete the vocabulary game. 

Science: This week you will be reviewing Unit 4: Plant/Animal Cells and Beneficial/Harmful Microorganisms. 1. You will start with watching a science lab video Mrs. Knobbe put together to review what we did in the lab using the microscopes. Remember when we looked at onion cells and swabbed our own cheek cells. It was a pretty fun lab!  2. Go to Study Jams link on Plant cells, read the slides and take the quiz. 3.
