Math: Order of Operations OR Study Guide on Place Value for Test Corrections
Social Studies: Complete Government chapter page in Interactive Notebook.
This week in Science, we
are continuing our first unit. We have taken notes on Constructive and
Destructive Processes and are now starting to apply the knowledge. Some
students struggled on the first few assignments, so we will be doing centers
this week for some reteaching and extension for students who have mastered the
beginning of the standard. We will be doing a lab using sugar cubes and
skittles this week to see the forces of weathering, erosion, and deposition.
Reading Update:
This week, students are working on Summarizing fiction texts and will then proceed to work on identifying themes. Please continue to independently read on your lexile level and work on your next book report.Math Update: We started the new unit on Order of Operations today. We will also simultaneously work on regular multi-digit multiplication this week while continuing to practice previously taught place value concepts in centers. I will start pulling students in small group on a regular basis to ensure understanding. Students took a test last Friday on place value unit. There were more than a few students from each class who failed that test. These students were given alternate study packet today to help them prepare for tomorrow's test corrections. Parents, please check your class dojo message if your child has to do test corrections.
